Maroubra Rides The Wave

8 Oct 2021

Recent sales in Maroubra are proving that the laidback beach suburb is drawing ever-growing demand from buyers looking for more space and a quieter lifestyle. In the past there’s been a perception that Maroubra is a bridesmaid suburb, away from the spotlight of neighbouring beachside hotspots like Bronte and Bondi, but there’s been a shift over the last year as families finding themselves priced out of those areas are heading south. In fact, properties in Maroubra are selling so quickly that 54 Alma Road, Maroubra sold this week before it launched to market to a database buyer just 24 hours after the marketing shoot, before it could even be listed. Another sale this week was the oceanfront property at 20 Marine Parade, Maroubra which sold after only a week on the market for circa $9m which secured a 50% growth over three years for the vendors.

Our Maroubra specialist Christian West says, “Maroubra is a fantastic place to live and it seems that its finally getting the attention from buyers it deserves. Any property trading over $3m is drawing huge interest from families looking to upsize with 90% of the buyers we’re engaging with coming from the more expensive stretch of the east from Randwick to Bondi. Space is a big factor but we’re also finding that one in four buyers are gravitating to Maroubra for the schools with the International French School and Mt Sinai College big drawcards. Our database of buyers looking in the area is growing exponentially and our listings are being snapped up quickly. This week’s sale of 20 Marine Parade, Maroubra is a great example with 15 contracts issued and 23 private inspections held before a family looking for a sea change purchased the oceanfront home prior to auction.”
